Max_Art_Fest is a contemporary art festival in Zagreb, Croatia. It was founded in 2008 by Leo Katunarić Kadele, who manages it as artistic director. Once a year, the festival presents and creates contemporary art projects from the region (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Italy, Austria), as well as projects and workshops by international artists (Japan, Mexico, USA, Sweden... ). This "festival without censorship" as the media called it, until 2016 was produced by a city institution. After a political scandal, when one of the performers mocked the mayor's arrest for embezzlement, the festival's funding was terminated. Since then, it has been produced by the KantunArt art organization.
